Colorful Chemistry

Description: Spend a day exploring the colorful world of chemistry. Learn how color can provide information to chemists and how humans use chemistry to color their world. Participants will experience laboratory activities and demos that are appropriate for secondary science students, including chromatography and fabric dying. One chromatography activity will immerse participants in scientific inquiry. Participants will leave with an increased understanding of the connections between chemistry and color . . . and a really cool tie dye shirt!

Teaching Reading With the Big Five

Description: Teaching Reading With the Big Five will focus on how to apply Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Vocabulary, Comprehension, and Fluency into a balanced reading program to meet state literacy standards while fostering a strong foundation for CSAP success. Summer Institute 2008 Collaboration at Its Best: A Catalyst for Student Achievement

Introduction to Geology (Geoscience Module 2)<br>Earth's Surface World

Description: This geoscience education course will provide an opportunity for teachers to gain an understanding of earth's surface processes (formation of sedimentary rocks) while learning how read a variety of topographical maps and use student compasses.
