Thank you so much for your interest in our program. The field of education is both dynamic and rewarding as the demand for teachers continues to significantly increase. It is estimated that 2 million teachers will be needed over the next 10 years. CSU-Pueblo's Teacher Education Program offers a variety of courses and professional experiences to meet this demand and we are delighted that you are thinking about continuing your pursuit to become a teacher with us-we would love to have you here! This is the foundational philosophy upon which Teacher Education at
Colorado State University-Pueblo is developed. It represents
the collaborative and dynamic nature in which we prepare
students to be the best teachers possible. With opportunities
to pursue elementary education, secondary education or K-12
education, our students are engaged in very diverse and
supportive learning environments that allow them to connect
not only with their professors, but also with peers and
current practicing educators.
As the
lead institution in the Southern
Colorado Teacher Education Alliance, we work closely with
over 17 partnership school districts across southern Colorado
as well as local community colleges, other faculty across our
campus, and several community agencies to make our program an
authentic place of teaching and learning. Students have
multiple opportunities to network with practicing K-12
teachers in our partnership school districts where they spend
over 800 hours working in actual classrooms, practicing and
implementing what they are learning in their college courses.
Finally,
our program has been the beneficiary of several federally-
funded grants that continue to enhance our ability to equip
our students with the latest technology and other educational
resources in the exciting and ever-changing field of
education.
