Prospective and Transfer Students
Are You Ready to Touch the Future? Are You Ready to Teach?
Building Experience in the Field
Practical experiences in K-12 schools are
integrated into the professional education courses throughout
the program. As students build experience in the field, they
will have multiple opportunities to "try out" what is
being learned in the college classroom. Students will design and
teach lessons, work one-on-one or with small groups of students,
collaboratively plan with cooperating teachers, integrate
state-of-the-art technology into their teaching, and learn about
the exciting, yet complex environments of K-12 schools. By the
completion of the teacher education program, students will have
spent 800+ hours in the field!
Our program uses a model of partnership schools
where teacher education students are placed in classrooms that
have experienced master teachers who are excited about helping
to prepare future teachers. Our partnership schools also serve
high-need student populations that allow future teachers to
develop the necessary instructional skills to meet the needs of
very diverse learners.
