MET Faculty

The MET faculty are united in their aim to help students succeed in their professional careers. To this end the faculty consider teaching of state-of-the-art engineering concepts, hands-on laboratories with modern equipment, and helping students outside the class room their overriding duty and pleasure.

Each of our faculty members brings a unique blend of academic and industrial experiences to CSU-Pueblo. We are an international group with teaching experience from many of the best universities in the U.S.A. We have experience working in large corporations, on international projects, in government/military engineering endeavors, and consult on an ongoing basis for large and small firms throughout the country. We add a flavor of valuable "real world" experience to all the academic and laboratory training we give our students. This diversity allows us to offer a wide range of subjects both formally in courses and through independent study that prepares our MET graduates to compete well in their professional careers.

Each faculty member takes students through a sequence of courses in his area of expertise. This building block approach allows us to reinforce material learned by the student from course to course and we can identify each student's interests and work with him/her on an individual basis. All this adds up to the following:

Dr. Richard GreetDr. Richard Greet served as Professor of Mechnical Engineering Technology at the University of Southern Colorado from 1983 to 1993. He then took a position as Senior Engineer with the R&D Transportation Technology Center of the Association of American Railroads. Recently, Dick rejoint the MET program as adjunct professor where he teaches thermodynamics and heattransfer courses.

Dr. Wolfgang SauerDr. Wolfgang Sauer is professor of mechanical engineering technology. His specialty fields are manufacturing processes, automation, computer-integrated manufacturing, and robotics. He teaches several courses in these areas. Dr. Sauer is affiliate director of the Colorado Space Grant Consortium at CSU-Pueblo and the chair of the Engineering Technology Department.

Dr. Frank ChenDr. Frank Chen retired as associate professor of mechanical engineering technology after 23 years of service to the university. His area of expertise includes fluid mechanics and heat transfer as well as CAD and quality control. His research interest is in computational methods in fluid mechanics; in particular he is exploring boundary element techniques and using MATLAB to solve these problems.

Dr. Jerry SweetDr. Jerry Sweet is Professor Emeritus of mechanical engineering technology. He is retired. Jerry taught courses in drafting, computer-aided design (CAD) and manufacturing. He was coordinator of the coop and internship program for all engineering technology students. Dr. Sweet still is very active in outreach activities with local school districts. For many years Dr. Sweet was responsible for putting on the exhibits in the Technology Building of the State Fair in Pueblo.
