Program Curriculum
The major in mechanical engineering technology leads to a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering technology (BSMET). The four-year program is structured to provide the student with a mix of theory in the classroom and practical applications in laboratories.
Three areas of the discipline are emphasized in the MET program. They are manufacturing processes and automation, mechanical design, and applied fluid and solid mechanics. Computers and design form a common thread throughout these areas.
Upon graduation, students will have the knowledge and skills that make them immediate assets to employers. The MET graduate can expect to fill positions in industry that require problem solving skills, team work, and communications in addition to the application of mechanical engineering concepts.
The mechanical engineering technology program also offers a MET minor. This curriculum gives students a background in materials, structures, and manufacturing and leads to a general appreciation of the mechanized world we live in.
