Program Status

Due to the small number of graduating seniors and the financial constraints inposed on the university, this program is being phased out. Starting with the fall semester 2003, no new freshmen students are accepted. Continuing students are placed on slightly modified schedules, taylored to each student, to allow their speedy completion of the graduation requirements.

Program Goals

  • To prepare graduates in Electronics Engineering Technology (EET) for careers in the electronics and computer engineering technology fields. Our four year program is designed to produce graduates that may be employed as:
    • Field Engineers
    • Design Engineers
    • Test Engineers
    • Production Engineers
    • Manufacturing Engineers
    • Systems Analysts
    • Sales Engineers
    • Customer Service Engineers
    • Application Engineers
    • Product Development Engineers
    • Quality Assurance Engineers

  • To graduate students who can apply the theoretical foundations and skills of their discipline to solve practical engineering problems using current technology.
  • To provide our students with a broad-based curriculum and quality instruction.
  • To maintain national accreditation by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (TAC/ABET).

History

The EET program can trace its roots back to a program in the early 1950's. In the 1960's, a two year electronics technology program was developed, and by 1970, our EET program was one of the first four year engineering technology programs in the United States. We have achieved and maintained TAC/ABET national accreditation since 1974. Since then we have made numerous improvements in our program to keep our instruction current and up-to-date. We are proud of our proven track record and our current program!

Current Program

The degree program leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics Engineering Technology (BSEET) offers a mix of electronics and computer engineering technology courses. Junior and Senior students can choose to emphasize one or the other area by selecting appropriate Technical Elective courses.

There are currently nine students majoring in electronics engineering technology. Instruction is provided by three full-time faculty members. Typical class sizes range from 6 to 28 students. The small class sizes give students excellent contact with the faculty. There is also a healthy diversity of students in our program.

Graduates are hired in areas of: research, design, development, production, applications, testing, programming, sales, customer service, and manufacturing. Average starting salaries are approximately $40,000 per year.
