Welcome
The CET Program Guide:

Program Goals

  • To prepare graduates in Civil Engineering Technology (CET) to function effectively in the engineering surveying or construction fields.
  • Our four year program is designed to produce:

    • Field Engineers
    • Surveyors
    • Soil, concrete, and asphalt technologists
    • Project managers
    • Civil engineering design technologists
  • To provide our students with a broad based curriculum and quality instruction.
  • To maintain national accreditation by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (TAC/ABET), 111 Market Place, Suite 1050, Baltimore, MD 21202, Telephone: (410) 347-7700.

History

The CET program can trace its roots back to a drafting and surveying program in the early 1959s. In the 1960s, a two year civil design technology program was developed, and by 1970 our CET program was one of the first four year technology programs in the United States. We have achieved and maintained TAC/ABET national accreditation since 1974. Since then we have made numerous improvements in our program to keep our instruction current.

We are proud of our proven track record and our current program.

Current Program

There are fifty-seven students majoring in civil engineering technology currently. Instruction is provided by four full-time faculty members. Typical classes in the major range from 6 to 28 students. The small class size gives students good contact with the faculty. There is a healthy mix of students in the program.
