Dr. Stuyt studied at both the University of Wageningen, Holland where he obtained his BS and MS degrees in Leisure studies, and at Texas A&M University where he obtained his Ph.D. in Recreation Resources Management. Dr. Stuyt joined the EXHPR faculty at CSU-Pueblo in 1999 teaching in the Recreation program. The courses he has taught include: Introduction to Recreation, Recreation Program Design, Leadership & Ethics, Teaching Experiential Education in the Outdoors, Commercial Recreation & Tourism, Outdoor Resources and Management, Administration of Recreation, Practicum, Seminar, and Internship. He also teaches in the President's Leadership Program (PLP), a scholarship funded minor.
Dr. Stuyt most recent research interests deal with high climate change as it affects participation in sports and recreation, and knowledge of global warming, its causes and ways to reduce its effects. Dr. Stuyt is also a reviewer for grants by Greater Colorado Outdoors, an active member of the National Park & Recreation Association and its Colorado chapter. His hobbies include sailing, wind surfing, cross country skiing, horseback riding and wine making.
