Introduction Letter 2012

January 03, 2012

Dear Prospective Team Sponsor:

We are delighted to announce the 18th Annual Engineering, Science, and Technology Design Contest, sponsored by the College of Education, Engineering, and Professional Studies at Colorado State University – Pueblo. Over the past few years, registrations for the event have surpassed 120 teams with more than 400 middle school and high school students involved from throughout Colorado and we hope this year we can count on the presence of your institution.

Our events have had minor modifications from previous years, but our purpose remains the same: We want to promote teamwork while encouraging responsibility, honesty and integrity among the students and parents and teachers’ involvement.

The registration form can be found here, please refer to the Competition Rules Booklet for instructions on how to complete it. As in the past, we will post our rules on our web site at http://ceeps.colostate-pueblo.edu/designcontest

Please refer to them when discussing the contest with your students. Note that students may register for two events, one from each of the two categories (the design events and the impromptu strategy events), by submitting separate registrations. Students may be on different teams for each, although no student may enter more than two events or more than one event in either category. Both types of events will be scored in the overall competition and will have prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams. Please read the Competition Rules Booklet carefully and feel free to call any of the resource numbers if you have questions.

This event poses a great opportunity to involve young minds in extracurricular activities that can help them to build up valuable skills for the future and to outline career paths. As in the past, we are asking that you help distribute the Competition Rules Booklet in your schools and community.

Please feel free to forward the material electronically or photocopy the Competition Rules Booklet as necessary to circulate to a wide audience.
